Making clouds

I’ve been working on the design of Oil & Water’s London Bubble Trade-Show booth which is on July 13 & 14. It’s been incredibly fun building these fabric clouds with wire-mesh and covered with fabric as part of the design of the space. I will still add gold paper raindrops streaming from the cloud as well, but here is a look-see at the making of a cloud itself! I will post final pics of booth as well when completed!

UPDATE: To see the clouds from this post, check out Oil & Water’s London Bubble booth which I also designed on their instagram page: http://instagram.com/p/qXWeWIK0pi/

New Doll! Red Lady

This was my project yesterday. I was inspired by those Indonesian puppets construction-wise. This doll’s head is made out of Fimo, I sculpted her face, then baked the clay and hand painted the features. I used a wide screw to serve as the neck which is screwed onto a plaster torso that I also made. Her base under the dress is a bottle filled with sand. Her dress and hair is made with re-purposed materials, her leather belt is adorned with hand sewn pieces of shell. I wanted her to be somewhat pose-able, as you can see, she also can have different hair styles. I plan on making some stop-motion animations using her as my model. I also hand-painted & fabric collaged the masonite background that she was photographed on.
